Give the comparison its context.
Bring a CSV
Load a UTF-8 comma-separated file or paste CSV text, then Apply CSV. It must have unique, nonempty headers and consistent field counts. Quoted commas, escaped quotes, a BOM and multiline cells are supported. The limit is 20,000 rows and about 3 MB. Applying new data clears chart cards and resets column choices; Undo data restores the prior project.
Grouping and missing values
Bar, line and donut charts group by the category column. Sum and mean exclude rows where the value is blank or not a finite number. The preview shows how many rows were skipped. Count includes every row, including rows with a blank numeric field. Blank category labels become “(blank)”. Numeric input must not contain currency symbols or thousands separators.
Choose first-appearance order, value order or alphabetical labels. First appearance does not infer calendar order: sort dates in your source data before using a line chart. Bar and line charts show at most twelve groups and can omit others; the preview states this. Descriptive minimum and maximum values refer only to displayed aggregates.
Choose a chart
Bar charts compare grouped values and use a zero baseline. Line charts connect groups in the selected order and also include zero in the vertical range. Neither chart detects time intervals automatically. Long category labels are abbreviated in the image; the SVG marks carry full labels in their hover titles.
Scatter plots use raw numeric X/Y pairs, not aggregation or group ordering. Rows with invalid values in either column are skipped. Up to 2,000 valid pairs are shown. Axis bounds are explicit; X need not start at zero. A scatter plot does not establish causation or calculate a fitted relationship.
Donut charts require sum or count, nonnegative aggregates and a positive finite total. When groups exceed the limit, overflow groups are combined as Other. The displayed total includes all original groups in that case. A share of aggregated values is meaningful only if those quantities form a meaningful whole; the app does not make that judgement.
Build the story
Add a chart to preserve its settings as a story card. All cards use the same project dataset. Reorder or remove cards as needed. Loading a card in the workbench does not edit it in place; adding creates another card. Up to twelve cards are supported.
Write a report title, introduction, source/methodology notes and conclusion. Keep units, reporting dates, denominators, missingness and limitations explicit. The app does not verify data, perform significance tests or write a factual narrative. Sample visitor/sign-up numbers are illustrative, not real analytics.
Exports and privacy
SVG and PNG export the current chart. Visual report HTML is self-contained and includes story cards with your context; it does not embed the raw CSV. Review chart labels for sensitive data before sharing. With no cards, the report uses the current chart. Print / PDF uses the browser’s print dialog. SVG/HTML are scalable; PNG is 1800×1240 pixels.
Save here keeps one project in browser storage. Download Project retains raw data, cards and text as JSON; Open project restores it, up to 8 MB. There are no accounts, uploads, analytics, external fonts or remote dependencies. Browser storage may be cleared and quota may prevent saving large data; download backups.
Chart logic, data handling and exported SVG samples were checked. Live browser interaction, image downloads and actual printing remain unverified.
